Neighborhood
Mountain Shadows resort is a community of log cabins in Gatlinburg. The resort entrance is 3.2 miles to downtown Gatlinburg, and you will see the natural beauty of Great Smoky Mountain National Park as you enter or exit the resort. There is a children's playground with swings next to a wonderful community pool open seasonally from May-September. Our close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park means there is lots of wildlife in our area - black bears, deer, wild turkeys, raccoons, coyotes, fox, and more! Black bears visit the cabin often in Spring, Summer and Fall. You may get lucky and catch a glimpse of one of these residents while enjoying the view from the deck. We also contract regular monthly pest services which treat for all pests from multiple types of bugs, mice, etc. Despite our regular treatments, given the proximity of the cabin to the park, it is possible these pests can temporarily enter the cabin. We immediately respond and treat if anything comes up and have found it is rare to come across anything like this. When you've had enough relaxation, look forward to endless entertainment in the surrounding area; you'll be in the perfect spot to explore through winding hiking trails and world-class ski slopes in the Great Smoky Mountains. Other local attractions can be found in downtown Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, including delectable restaurants, intriguing shops, the always-entertaining alpine slides, and even a moonshine distillery! During your time here, make sure to visit the Ober Gatlinburg Amusement Park & Ski Area, which offers terrific skiing in the colder months, a ski mountain coaster, an aerial tramway, and many other thrilling attractions! The cabin is located on a mountain road. We strongly recommend trip insurance, especially during the Winter since there are no refunds for snow and ice. In difficult winter or storm related weather situations there can be delays in cleaning and check in pending road conditions which can be outside of our control. Please note that there are new cabins being built in the area, and guests may hear noise from the construction during the day.

While there is an incline to the road to the cabin within the resort, getting to our cabin is not a scary ride and much smoother than most in the Smoky Mountains! The resort has wonderfully paved roads to our cabin is the second-to-last cabin on a dead-end street. Many of our guest drive to Tennessee, but some also choose to fly into the Knoxville airport, McGhee Tyson Airport 39 miles away. We highly recommend that our guests have a vehicle for transportation. There's just so much to see and do in Gatlinburg and the surrounding areas!
